How to crochet a circular start
Table of contents
The circular starting technique is used when starting stitches in the round, which can be used to crochet ball-shaped or tubular crochet items.
Magic ring or magic circle
The Magic Ring is the most basic circular starting method. It can be used for virtually any spherical or non-hollow circular crochet fabric.

The technique may seem a bit complicated, but it's actually just a slip knot without tightening the knot, and you're done!

Chain start
The second method is the circular start with chain stitches. Depending on the number of chain stitches, this method creates a natural gap in the center; the more chain stitches, the larger the gap. It's also a starting method for tubular circular crocheting. Because it's less prone to loosening, this method is more secure when crocheting clothing or fabrics that are frequently stretched.

First, crochet a slip knot, then crochet a few chain stitches (four chain stitches in the photo).

Then, slip stitch in the back loop of the first chain stitch to form a loop, and you're done.
