What is massage oil? Is it the same as body oil?

It depends on the ingredients used. Massage oils and skincare oils are both made with plant oils as a base (also called "carrier oil"), and then essential oils are added and mixed together.
The composition, texture, scent, and function can vary greatly depending on the plant oils and essential oils used. If the blended product is suitable for massage, it will be called massage oil; if it is suitable for daily skincare, it will be called skincare oil. It can also have two or more uses at the same time.

Selection of carrier oil

Carrier oils vary in texture; some are light and easily absorbed, while others are richer and stay on the skin longer. Some oxidize more easily and should be used up as soon as possible, while others are more stable and can be stored for a longer period.

Choosing essential oils

Essential oils are volatile, fat-soluble liquids extracted from plants, and they typically have a rich and unique aroma. The composition of essential oils can vary considerably between different plants.
Since the oil will be applied to the skin, it is important to choose one that is gentle on the skin.
In addition, the amount of essential oil used is also something to pay attention to. For daily skincare, 1% or less is usually enough.

Make your own lavender massage oil

Here I'll introduce how to make a massage oil. The ingredients are very simple, with only two: the carrier oil Jojoba oil is stable , resistant to oxidation, has a refreshing texture, and absorbs quickly. The essential oil chosen is classic organic true lavender essential oil, which has a soothing and relaxing scent and properties. Whether it's the essential oil or the carrier oil, it's recommended to choose high-quality, organically certified products.

Instructions

  1. Pour 50mL of jojoba oil into a glass measuring cup.
  2. Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil to a glass measuring cup.
  3. Take off the pump head of the glass bottle and place the funnel at the mouth of the glass bottle.
  4. Pour the mixture of jojoba oil and essential oils into the glass bottle through a funnel.
  5. Remove the funnel, place the pump head on and tighten it, shake well and it's done.

Using lavender massage oil

Dispense an appropriate amount and apply to the skin, then wait for it to be absorbed. This lavender massage oil can also be used as a skincare oil or for hair care; it's one of my favorite multi-purpose oils.

Precautions

If you have never used these two ingredients before, you should check for any allergic reactions before using them for the first time.
