Introduction
Tamanu Blanket is a soothing crochet design featuring a simple, textured interwoven pattern.
The blanket is worked by joining squares to create the first strip. Each remaining strip is then made by joining its squares to the previous strip as you go, eliminating the need for seaming. Finish with a minimalist border for a clean, understated edge.
Simply choose any yarn and hook size you prefer, then make the blanket in any size—from a small lap blanket to a generously sized throw. The pattern offers a relaxing and flexible experience from start to finish.

The design story
One day while making this blanket, I walked along a street in Taiwan lined with native tamanu trees that were planted more than a century ago—the largest ones I had ever seen.
Tamanu (Calophyllum inophyllum) is a tropical evergreen tree native to East Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Today, its rich, dark green oil—often called “green gold”—is valued in traditional skincare and wellness practices.
